Welcome to the Howling Good blog hop! I’m excited to join so many other authors who, like me, enjoy writing about shifters and other paranormal creatures. There are lots of opportunities to win prizes in the hop, and info on that’s at the bottom of the post. Now, let’s dive in and talk about shifters!
People ask me, “What inspires your work,” or, “Why do you write about shifters?” “Why erotic romance?” The truth is, I write what inspires me. A lot of my stories come from dreams, and others are just little ideas that flit across my mind. I’ve mentioned in the past about how the idea for Werewolves in the Kitchen came to me when I was doing my laundry when I lived at a retreat center in the woods.
What I think inspires me most about writing werewolves, or shifters in general, is the primal sexuality. They don’t have some of the hangups that we humans do.
A lot of my inspiration also comes from music; I craft playlists for each story. Below is a music video of one of my new favorites, 2 Cellos. Though the song is inspiring me for the (as yet untitled) sequel to Werewolves with Chocolate, the reason I’m sharing a video is because it was the two musicians that inspired me.
Sulic and Hauser, reminded me so much of Jake and Kyle I almost fell out of my seat.
I think what grabbed me the most was their intensity, their passion. Well…and those smoky eyes of theirs, I’ll admit that too! I love it how during the course of the song the two of them just become completely unraveled; they go wild.
I kind of imagine that might be what it looks like if two werewolves were talented at playing the cello!
This song is inspiring me for a fight scene in the third Werewolves story. I haven’t quite figured out what Ellie, Jake, and Kyle are up to…all I know is that Ellie’s either taken a job at a telescope/observatory, or at a supercollider, and something happens that awakens Ellie’s magic, even as Jake and Kyle gain new werewolf strength while the three of them fight off another magical enemy.
The 2 Cellos music may not be your thing, but you’ve got to give them this; they certainly enthusiastic! What music inspires you?
Werewolves with Chocolate
Jake and Kyle have big plans for Ellie. The three of them will be celebrating their first Valentine’s Day together, and the two werewolves have prepared a feast of chocolates, fruits, and desserts to seduce her. After several busy weeks Ellie’s looking forward to a relaxing weekend with her mates; their pent up lust boils within her blood. However, when an injured werewolf shows up on their doorstep, the three have to deal with pack politics on the most romantic weekend of the year. Sex and chocolate had been in the plans, but now the mix includes a pissed off werewolf pack and the threat of war with enemy wolves. Will the dangers of the shifter underworld force them apart?
